Explanation

Each of the graphs represents a snapshot of the data of the Metal Archives taken at an early point in a year.

The data used here is the latest dataset, which is the current year minus one.

These cards are aggregations of the releases per decade over all genres and countries. The 2025+ dataset is used for this.

Where does the population data come from? Official sources, but future plans are to get it directly from the UN via rest, which would make creating the new datasets much easier.

Is the data accurate? No. The data for the graphs is on the level of the bands. This means should a band have the genres "black/death", then any of its releases would be summed under the genres "black" as well as "death".

But should the genre then not be on the level of the releases? No, this is a can of worms you want to open.

Why is there no data for progressive metal? Well, I have one old data set, which has this "genre", but the later one do not. But due to the configuration of the genres, this genre still appears.
